DINGO DAY – SUNDAY 30TH JULY, BILLABONG ZOO , PORT MACQUARIE
This Sunday, July 30th 2017 is Dingo Day at Billabong Zoo, Port Macquarie. Lots of fun and education for all the family. It’s part of our Conservation through Education programme where we feature an Endangered Species as our role as Ambassadors for Wildlife. The Dingo is listed on theIUCN Red List of Threatened Species as Vulnerable with number decreasing. Cross-breeding with domestic and feral dogs represents a significant threat to the long-term existence of dingoes (see the International Union for the Conservation of Nature listing for the Dingo)
Over the coming weeks we will be posted links to some great current University research which is looking at the plight of pure breed Dingoes in Australia. Back to this Sunday at the Zoo – Dingo Day 30th July 2017.
